It’s finally summer time again. My big girls are enjoying staying up late and sleeping in, and my little girl is enjoying the increased frequency of visits to the park. I am enjoying a break in our busy schedule. It’s a good time to take longer to drink my morning coffee, take sunset walks, think about life.
Another school year is behind us and for that I am grateful that we made it through. It was as challenging for us in the same way that it was challenging to everyone else in the world.
With three girls I’ve been depending on protective styles. It keeps us afloat. We go between cornrows, braids and twists. Twists are the fastest style to take down and redo, but braids stand up best to summer pool and beach visits.
I feel guilty that their hair doesn’t have that “slick, freshly done” look, but my sanity isn’t worth it.
